Initiatives for Kurdish problem; are they real or make-believe
After President Abdullah Gul mentioned that Turkey has a “historical opportunity” for the solution of its age-old Kurdish problem, Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan also announced that work is underway to end the civil strife in the southeast. But it seems there is no concrete plan so far. Kurdish politicians are accusing the government of trying to find a solution “without the Kurds.” While PKK leader Ocalan announced from his prison that he will make public his ‘proposals’ on August 15.

Is the alleged “Action Plan” to undermine AKP government true or fake? One may never know!
Whether a document containing plans to undermine the government allegedly written by a colonel at the headquarters of the Turkish General Staff is authentic evidence of the presence of a junta within the officer ranks or a fabrication leaked to the media with the purpose of discrediting the armed forces, dominated the political agenda in the country for the past week. Latest reports indicate that the public might never learn where the truth lies.

AKP loses ground at Sunday’s local elections
